    Speaker: Dr. Nicholas Hatsopoulos, University of Chicago, Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy, Chairman of the Committee on Computational Neurosciences

    Dr. Hatsopoulos’s laboratory work has recently proved that electrical signals from the brain can be decoded so that paralyzed patients can control devices, such as prosthetic limbs, to better interact with the world. His work is now focused on improving the decoding algorithms as well as on augmenting these systems with sensory feedback.
